Terms & Conditions
Stone Interiors is a stone templating, fabrication, and installation service only. We take no responsibility for other services.
For Stone Interiors to provide the best possible installation of your stonework, our quote is based on the information provided and is subject to the following terms & conditions.
Quoting & Pricing
- Our quotes are based on flat, single-level property access for installation in Central Rotorua, with one template and one install trip, unless otherwise stated, and must be taken as a whole. Any additional trips required may be charged for.
- All surfaces must be flat, level, installed correctly, and structurally adequate for the support and installation of the stone or porcelain specified. We take no responsibility for checking these things. Additional charges will apply if we must remedy joinery or return to the site to adjust, drill holes, etc., and may apply if the final job required varies from the original quotation.
- Machinery or crane hire will incur additional charges if required, as will extra trips.
- We reserve the right to change the final price following templating if changes have been made, additional items are required or requested, or if the initial information provided was not accurate.
- Our quotes are valid for 90 days from the date of our offer. However, you may be able to secure the quote by paying a 50% deposit before the expiry of the 90-day period.
- Our quote is based on the template, manufacture, delivery, and/or fit being conducted during normal working hours—Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. An additional sum will be charged if any work is requested outside of these times.
Your Responsibilities
- If you have ordered directly with us, it is your responsibility to ensure that the joiner/builder is aware of any specific requirements for your stone or porcelain, and to ensure that we have all relevant information and dates.
- If you have requirements regarding cut-outs, join or tap positions, overhangs, etc., it is your responsibility to provide these at the time of requesting a quote. If these items are not provided, we will use our best judgement and/or industry standards.
- Please provide requested information in a timely manner to avoid disruptions to the timing of your project. We may require all accessories on site or at our office. We quote on an average-sized sink (500×400), tap hole (35mm), or hob (600×500). If an item is larger than these, please inform us at time of quoting, or there may be additional charges.
- It is your responsibility to check that your design and material meet criteria pertinent to any terms and conditions, warranty, and/or requirements. Please ensure that you investigate the pros and cons of materials as well as any care and maintenance required before confirming. Stone Interiors accepts no responsibility for use of products specified by others.
- Quotation of a product is no guarantee of availability of that product.
- If you require coverings on your new tops, please inform us at the time of requesting a quote. We cannot be held responsible for other trades using the surfaces and subsequently damaging them.
- Due to workloads during the festive season, we cannot guarantee templating during December.
Materials & Variations
We cannot guarantee that a single worktop can be manufactured to a length of more than three metres (or the length of the slab of material selected) without a join. This will depend on the material selected.
Natural stone can be prone to variations in colour and thickness as well as natural fractures. These are not defects in the stone and we will not be held responsible for these.
All products, including some quartz stones, are sold subject to variation in colour, grain, veining, thickness, and texture. These are not defects and we will not be held responsible for any variation from the sample shown. If a particular colour or finish is required, we advise you to make an appointment and inspect the raw material prior to fabrication. Following fabrication, we will not be held responsible if the material does not meet your exact expectations.
When placing an order for a material with an inconsistent pattern, please note that we cannot always guarantee how the pattern will match up at the joins or which way the veins will run, although we do our best. Please call the office to discuss your requirements.
After the template and before fabrication, should you change your mind on the material ordered, a re-stocking fee will be charged for the exchange. The re-stocking fee will depend on the supplier's terms, and we will advise you of the final amount for your consideration.
During fabrication, delivery, and/or installation, chips and cracks can appear. We reserve the right to replace or repair minor defects entirely at our discretion. Stone Interiors also reserves the right to use chemical or resinous fillers—some of which may already be present in the stone worktop—to carry out any repairs.
Payment Terms
A 50% deposit is required at the time of order confirmation so that we can schedule a template date and order in the raw material. We reserve the right to request a further 30% payment prior to installation, with the balance due on job completion as per your invoice. All product remains the property of Stone Interiors until it is paid for in full.
Unless we state otherwise, the current lead time is 7 days' notice for templating and 10–15 days from template to installation (with the exclusion of large, multi-fit-out jobs), provided the material has been chosen prior to template and required payments are up to date. This is subject to a pre-booked schedule.
Templating & Installation
We require clear working areas free of hazards with no interference from other trades. There should be no clutter or other hindrances when our templaters or installers arrive on site. We cannot take responsibility for any damage when carrying worktops in.
At the time of template and install, the owner or an authorised person must be present if you wish to discuss any specific requirements.
All surfaces must be flat, level, and structurally adequate for the support and installation of stone. We will presume all supporting structures (including the floors) have been installed correctly and take no responsibility for checking, unless asked to at the time of booking your templating (this may incur an extra charge).
We reserve the right to charge for any additional trips or return visits required—for example, if the site is not ready, there were unseen obstacles, or if other trades required access to the same area.
If you wish to change the date of the template or install, we require a minimum of three working days' notice, otherwise we reserve the right to charge for re-booking or cancellation. Although we will do our best to reschedule your job to your preferred date, we cannot guarantee a date within five working days of the original booking.
Templating
- All units and furniture must be completely fitted, level, and secured so that no adjustments are made to the units following templating. Any temporary fitted sinks and/or work surfaces must be removed before templating can be conducted.
- All accessories—hobs, sinks, taps, waste masters, and power points—should be available on site (or at our factory) together with the templates where possible.
- Please ensure suitable space and support is provided for sinks. Heavy undermounted sinks such as enamel or granite sinks, or sinks in porcelain tops, may require full support (with 20mm movement space all around the sink) to be built and fitted by the joiner prior to installation. If our installers need to do extra work to accommodate sinks, an additional charge may apply.
Installation
- Where required—such as on building sites or apartments—hoisting facilities must be provided free of cost.
- Following templating, if it is found that the furniture to which the worktops are to be fitted has been adjusted or moved in any way, we may not be able to conduct the fitting. A further cost may be incurred should we have to re-template and/or re-make any of the pieces.
- There must be adequate support to take the weight of stone worktops. If you are in any doubt, please call the office to discuss additional supports that may be required. A granite worktop in 20mm thickness typically weighs around 55 kilograms per square metre and 80 kilograms in 30mm thickness.
- Stone worktops are very heavy and can be difficult to manage in confined spaces. Our installers are experienced and will be extremely careful. Please remove cupboard fronts, appliances, and any other items that may get damaged during fitting of stone or porcelain worktops. Stone Interiors cannot take responsibility for damage to items left in place. Please also remove any overhead cupboards, appliances, tables, units, and other heavy objects to enable a clear workspace. Stone Interiors cannot be liable for any damage caused if we must move items.
- Installers may need to slightly modify walls (e.g., make cut-outs) next to the stone worktop to minimise gaps during installation. It is the customer's responsibility to perform final finishing of these areas. We advise that splashbacks, tiling, and final paint coats are completed after worktops are installed.
Following Completion of Work
We urge that you inspect the worktops carefully after fitting is complete. We will not be held responsible for any damage found after the installers have left the premises.
All worktops require 24 hours for adhesives and silicone to cure. We therefore advise that you do not use the worktops, cabinets, or drawers for 24 hours.
Stone worktops—whether made from natural or man-made materials—are prone to variations in colour, pattern, thickness, and density. Although all materials are sealed, care should still be taken and any spills cleaned up immediately. Certain knives and other hard objects can scratch the surface, so chopping boards should always be used. Standing on tops or dropping heavy objects can cause chips and cracks. We always recommend the use of trivets and pan stands for hot pans. Please refer to the care and maintenance guidelines on the relevant brand's website for further details.
Please complete a warranty form for your new tops—this can be found on the brand's website.
Contractors will need to follow all manufacturer's instructions regarding the use and application of all products specified. Stone Interiors accepts no responsibility for use of products by other contractors once installed.
Final Check
Please ensure that you check our quote and any cutting plans carefully to confirm that nothing has been missed or inadvertently added. Please indicate any disparities at your earliest convenience and we will amend and re-submit our corrected quote. We cannot be held responsible for any missed details.
